Curiosity

A common thrill,

completely frozen still.

But only in my mind.

undesirable novelty,

helpless curiosity

I let the ride pull me in.

A fantasy,

an obsession that went too far

Its posture bent backward

into a library of modern trends.

The doubt I thought I'd left behind

I am now beginning to befriend.

Too many times

I've been persuaded

into an empty room.

Caught unaware

by an ever-changing idea.

Its damp, colorless environment

for some reason seems appealing.

This is what I fear

This was my identity,

the rising sun that awoke my childhood.

An adopted message

that told me I would

Too taken to open up another door,

I never did leave for good.
