Drain the Swamp

By: Curtis Carroll, 12/30/2017

He campaigned where others feared to go
In rural towns where his opponents dared not to show
The media laughed him off, as if he was not in the race
Claiming victory for their candidate, before evening’s grace
He made a promise if elected, to drain the swamp;
To make America Great Again! His name is Trump.

The “Swamp”, he referred to, was in Washington, D.C.
Full of Rats, Snakes, Crocodiles, and those who thought they were Almighty?
This situation was fine, his opposition kept saying
While outside the ‘Beltway’ the people were praying;
That the promise made by one – Mr. Trump
He would be the one to ‘Drain the Swamp’!

“Deplorable!” Was the Opposition’s cry of the day?
It was a price-tag that HRC would have to pay
Her crowds got smaller, while she got tired
Of hearing others say: “You are fired!”
“What Happened?”  Her latest book, which she is out to stump?
The ‘Deplorable’ know! They voted for Mr. Trump.

The Media too, he exposed as ‘Fake’ and ‘biased’
They lost credibility for being such liars
Apologies finally came, but oh! So late
Then the situation was compared to ‘Watergate’.
The ‘Creepy, Crawlies’ was fighting back from the swamp
The ‘Twitter Prez’ was having a hard time draining the swamp.

One thing to be said, he was not P.C.
His language was totally opposite to that of HRC
His approach was direct, he showed no fear
Bragged a lot about his wealth, and his head of hair
He is keeping his promises, he made on the campaign stump
About building a wall, and draining the swamp.

Note: An obituary of 2017 campaign.
