An Artist's Travail

Jaleel Akhtar 1979 (Lahore)

This statued repose
Is not to seek
In the lyrical vase of your body
An electric pulse
Is what streams
Throbbing
In these wreathed veins
The very blood of the artist
From the depths of his heart
Is sapped
Into a comely shape
Dancing
In the round
His tunefulness lends
The lyrical vase of your body
A few little sexy curves
Oh Body made to worship
You cannot tell apart
The heartbeat from the heart
How can I know
The potter
From the pot?
