Without Representation

In early days of the young Republic,
Our leaders picked by countrymen,
They were regarded as our brothers,
Dispatched to capitols, to represent.

But demagogues, some politicians,
Enriching on backs of common men.
Destroying livelihoods and freedoms,
Of those who bravely take a stand.

A wink, a nod, a hidden deal,
Peddling of influence for gain.
They are corrupt, inept, divisive,
And crave dominion, deserve disdain.

We hear them cackling like hyenas,
With anticipation of seizing the reins.
These parasites usurp the system,
Corrupting all touched by their hands.

They take from some to give to others,
Pretending it's for greater good.
Intention is to keep them voting,
Depend on government, for food.

The aim is to grasp, hold on power,
While stealing from the "ugly" folk.
Take bribes, sell out, bankrupt our country,
Dispensing platitudes while talk.

Fearmongers lie, their deeds are vile,
And honor is foreign to this lot.
False prophets of moral degradation,
Harm the Republic, deepen rot.

They lost all fear and sense of duty,
Dark souls are brimming with deceit.
Concede to such? Let lies go unchallenged,
From those who blatantly flaunt conceit?

Complacency is hardly the answer,
Yet most will cower, take steps back.
That's not how Founders built this Nation,
Resist all tyranny, keep thieves in check.
