A Worried Mind

By: Curtis Carroll, 4/28/2012

Watching TV all day long, nothing better to do
Economy gone wrong, no job to go to
Haven’t worked all year, the future looks bleak
Empty promises you hear, as the politicians speak

TV programming very poor, it keeps getting worse
No quality control for sure, people are allowed to curse
Politicians have taken the air; talking only trash
Nothing positive to share, spending the peoples’ cash

Unemployment still too high, many trillions spent
The debt ceiling has reached the sky; nobody knows where the money went
Society has broken down, church goers stopped praying
Rioting-from Town to Town, the whole country is decaying

Union unrest on the rise, demanding another pay hike
Threatening companies otherwise, they will go on strike
Too many jobs are leaving, to foreign countries in force
Workers sadly are grieving, they are being out-sourced

Freedom of speech is a right, we no longer enjoy
Political correctness have weakened its might-our country, it will destroy
Ideologues have drawn battle-lines, civil unrest will return
Borders will be closed with mines, while the country burn

Greed, today, has the upper-hand, there’s no relief in sight
Once, this was the Promise Land, where everyone had a right
How the Mighty has fallen, just as did - the Roman Empire
Listen to the voices calling: stop digging this quagmire!

Note: Frustrated
