Goodbye Joe (a song sung to the tune of "If I Only Dad a Brain" from The Wizard of Oz

Joe, I been sittin’ here a thinkin’
how I’m sorry that you’re a stinkin’….
you were my only friend.

Now brother you know that I ain’t lyin’
When I say I was sorry ‘bout your dyin’
right up to the bitter end

I hope you ain’t been layin’ there a listenin’
to all that ugly talk and  whisperin’
about me stayin’ at your home

I worried ‘bout your lovely wife, Clarissa,
and how she might be startin’ to miss ya
so I called her on the phone.

I helped her with one thing and another
I had to run off your neighbor and your brother
I even helped her thru the night

Joe, life can certainly turn out funny…
I never ever knew about your money
now everything’s  alright

With all the ugly rumors flyin’
‘bout me and her and you just dyin’
we decided to take a trip

To help Clarissa thru her grievin’
she and I will soon be leavin’
on a lovely little ship

Don’t fret about your house and car and clothes
we finally got rid of all of those
so your affairs are at an end

Now Joe I’m sorry that you’re stinkin’
but I’m sure you’re layin’ there a thinkin’,
“Thanks for everything, old friend.”

Well Joe, you know you’re surely welcome
I was mighty glad to be a helpin’,
so “Adios” to you old friend
