Pluto

You must have been a moon once,
Following me as I float through life,
Watching as gravity brings me to my knees,
Full faced you bring light, to even my darkest thoughts,
I'll remember you as you once were,

You are not lust, I knew her,
In the drunken nights and lonely weekends,
Oh, how I knew her,
Meaningless encounters bringing short lived euphoria,
It's a Magnificent being is lust,
Beautiful, risky, a royal flush against a pair,
An easy win.

Call my bluff and see my soul,
For I am Pluto, forever pretending to be something I am not,
Until that day, that awful life changing,
Soul crushing day,
I find myself broken, naked to the world,
Nothing left but me, no more lies and mirrors to reflect other's personalities,
Just me.

I lay here, second best, not just to you but to myself,
A selfish, lost, materialistic self,
I lay here.

Maybe I was a moon once,
For I am beautiful yet isolated,
Lost but rooted to your existence,
I will follow you, and watch as gravity brings you to your knees.
