Perceptions

Easily influenced by what others
Say, think and feel.
Confuses me to believe what’s
Known to be real.

Thoughts of how others would perceive me,
Is constantly on my mind.
So I tend to be someone else instead of
Being one of a kind.

The person that I would represent is
Not really me.
Just acting as the person that they all
Want me to be.

Concerned if others will like me if I don’t
Do what they say.
That is why I portray the person that they
Want a certain way.  

Too many years have passed as I have been
Who I am not.
Finally appreciating who I really am, and
All that I’ve got.
