Solitude

Intense and perplexed,
my struggles I face,
in pain but amazed
to learn patience' pace.

How lonely they seem
those days of suspense,
nights pass in a dream
of met needs and requests.

Dawn comes in and brings
reality's signs
an old song to sing
with new hope for light.

God, help me to see
Your purpose of trial
and let me know Thee,
to make self denial.

In solitude, time
spreads gently its net,
to teach a frail mind
of healthy restraint.

God's plan is for good,
His will I desire
and long for His truth
through the refiner's fire.
