The Gray Rose

Sol

I am colorblind but she can describe to me
a rose,
something that I can never fully see,
something that I cannot fully comprehend,
the importance of a flower amidst a quagmire of decay,
a beam of light in the dark
shines and shows me the way.
Sad eyes,
straining and squinting,
I can see the light,
illuminating the rose
that she describes.
