Without Love

Without love
The Earth cold and dark
So, God bathed the world
With love from the start

And with God’s love
Life on Earth began
Even monster asteroids
Couldn’t destroy his land

God so loved the Earth
The beauty of nature there
For mountains and valleys
Streams and lakes, he cared

As life evolved upon Earth
Species of varied souls
Love a basic need
Not to be bought or sold

For all walks of life
To feel that euphoric pull
Heart to heart
Oh, so wonderful

Love, the common bond
Among all the living
The gift from God
Continues the giving

Without love
Life on Earth
Would destroy itself
Then again, God would give birth

Maybe, just maybe
God would give Earth another chance
For life again to thrive
Perfecting love’s dance

DanceOfThePoet'sPen

Guess you could say I'm a self taught poet. I started writing poetry as a means of dealing with the emotions of finding my Birthmother's obituary and grave site after searching for 10 years. I continued writing and over the course of the last 20 years I've become comfortable in how I write. You'll notice I tend to write a lot about nostalgia and old memories. Hey, when you round the corner of 60 years, you start thinking a lot about the past and where you've been. One of my subjects I write about is love, but I try to write of other things too. I've lived on the south shore of Massachusetts for all of my 64 years. But I love all of New England. Aside from writing poetry, I also love photography and have quite a collection of old antique cameras. Baseball, football, muscle cars and car shows are also some of my interests. Not too crazy about Winter. Spring & Summer are my favorite seasons. more…
