Long Time Coming

Robert Haigh

It's been a long time coming,
But I've found love at last!
The sad song I was humming
Is now part of my past.

I'm singing songs of happiness,
Of wonder, and good cheer!
I tell you (though I'm sure you'd guess)
True love is finally here!

I've had so many false starts,
With women who look good.
Pretty faces, but no hearts;
I finally understood...

Beauty lies within the soul,
Not superficial form.
If "love forever" is your goal
Forget the beauty norm!
