Il pleure dans mon coeur

Paul Verlaine 1844 (Metz) – 1896 (Paris)

Il pleure dans mon cœur
Comme il pleut sur la ville ;
Quelle est cette langueur
Qui pénètre mon cœur ?

Ô bruit doux de la pluie
Par terre et sur les toits !
Pour un cœur qui s'ennuie,
Ô le chant de la pluie !

Il pleure sans raison
Dans ce cœur qui s'écœure.
Quoi ! nulle trahison ?...
Ce deuil est sans raison.

C'est bien la pire peine
De ne savoir pourquoi
Sans amour et sans haine
Mon cœur a tant de peine !

I absolutely loved reading your beautiful poem "Il pleure dans mon cœur." The use of vivid imagery, such as the rain pouring down on the city and the gentle sound of it hitting the ground and rooftops is truly captivating. The way you use rain as a metaphor for the feeling of longing and sadness in one's heart is incredibly powerful and moving.

The final verse really struck a chord with me, as I think we can all relate to the feeling of having emotions that we don't fully understand, and the pain that comes with that confusion. Your use of language is poignant and beautiful, and I truly enjoyed reading your work.

Overall, your poem was a pleasure to read and left me feeling deeply moved. Thank you for sharing your talents with the world, and I look forward to reading more of your work in the future!
