Wandering, But Where?

As I go about my day,
I am like a butterfly,
Fluttering about, from one flower to another,
Savoring the sweet nectar of each one,
But quickly moving on to the next,
Dismayed that its pleasures could not last longer.
Or, I am like a monkey,
Swinging from one branch to another,
Barely pausing to take in the greenness of one vine,
Always anticipating the joys yet to come,
Refusing to stay on the present vine,
But always ready to move.
Perhaps, for once, I could be like a waterfall,
Stationary, glued to the moment,
Pouring my bounty into the breathless stream,
And drinking from each moment its boundless graces.
