Burden

I might as well give it all up now
Because I don’t matter as much as I thought I did
And in twenty years, when you’ve all settled
I would have died, a victim of my own conviction

These useless thoughts that rack my brain
Will someday soon detail my pain
And although I shouldn’t take on so much
The load I bear is a sacrifice I make

I will die a martyr
And that’s enough for me
