My Funeral Poem: tribute

Kenneth R. Jenkins 1961 (Augusta, GA)

Life goes on
The mistakes of the are gone
Times of remembrance are past
The clock ticks on and on.

I was born, I lived, I die,
The cycle of life as it is called
For what reasons as this
I don’t know why.

Collected thoughts are put away
Brief encounters were made.
We’re on this planet for a few years
Gone another minute not to stay.

And all that I ever be.

And poets closed their books once more time
Ending all there books one more time
Both written and spoken that you find.

Collected thoughts has past
While new voices are done
It was great at once now it won’t last.

Good night to all who knew me well
So long kindred and friends,
It was wonderful here as I can tell
This is the very end.

Hush and don’t cry for me,
As I lay in the body shell,
While my spirit is with my Lord you see,
I ran my race well.

And there is silence heard
In the distant proclaim.....
