An Ulster Gardener.

The blade of the spade
Hit the ground forcefully
And entered the required
Length of the planting area.
Followed by a few more
Attempts to ensure that
The area compared to
What was required.

The labourer using the spade
Had plenty of experience
And his daily task helped to
Evolve a gardener that was
A-one across the valley of
The Roe. A Roe- sider of
Ulster Scots descent who
Enjoyed gardening.

An interesting scene but
Eventually the growth of
Flowers and other plants
Dancing, if a breeze occurs,
Was the unique art of the spader.
For the fruit of the spade is there
As it was from the beginning as
Our friend, Scottie, would know.
