Arrived in Ireland in

In Spain. Affected by the
Weather it arrived home
On the third morning.

A thoroughbred of one
Of the best strains who
Was prepared and sent
By its breeder and owner
 Across miles of land and
Sea to end up a local hero.

Oh, I dread to imagine
What the bird had to face
Upon its release thousands
Of miles from its loft across
Land and sea to be clocked
At home in the emerald isle.

And of course the turbulent
Weather did not help its flight
But it had the capability to
Return to its little loft

Owned by a pigeoner of
Ability and a lover of
A fantastic sport who
Contends that pigeon
Racing especially at
Long distances is a- one.
