Lethean Love

I fell into her eyes,
Ancient forests lullabies
Two glasses of intoxicating wine
Darkened stars slowing Time
She said she was the daughter of a mountain
O, to be the water of her fountain
Sculpted marble, the sound of flowing–
Perpetual grace of frozen motion
When I awoke, the spell not broken;
The last note of an echo spoken
Was it a dream, like the stillness of winter?
Were the sheets disturbed? Did a fragrance linger?
Outside my window, the moon was calm and knowing
Inside my heart, there was a tempest blowing!

I fell into her eyes
Ocean siren lullabies
Like long-enduring Odysseus,
I was separated from her kiss
Wondering if the gods could fall so deeply?
Time, like honey, slowly flowing sweetly
When all she was made her dream in weeping;
A life folded up in the space of sleeping?
Golden leaves on the shore of a Hadean river
No longer guided by the ferryman, I miss her
Memories curling into a fading wisp
Over Lethe’s lapping waters of bliss
A soul I was a long time—
Knowing…
A flower in snow I find—
Growing…
