Mountains

God seems nearby when I'm standing on a mountain, The hard climb accents upward distances.
Rocks are granite sharp, sparkling with glitter
Seemingly thrust there in a stark existence
Before anyone had awakened.

Perhaps it is just the seclusion of it all,
Not the smell of brush and dirt, mixed with musk.
No man can truly conquer such an environ
It is beyond the capture of a climber
Or a poet, attempting a stony phrase.

No, a mountain is more than sharp rocks and trees,
It is life to one such as me!
