Shelter From The Storm

We are the innocent
some are the damned
When will we ever understand
The storms outside are brewing

Do you know what you are doing
To close out the noise from inside
We hide behind the false garb of compromise
Shelter lies dormant onto it's beckoning call

To look deep into the mind of the poet
A challenge to be free is a question of time
some come in quick right on the scene
others contemplate an evil scheme

Learn from your mistakes that you have treasured
Be brave enough to share with your neighbor
others are heading toward disaster
The casualties are enormous

For a stated cause that's atrocious
Send the troops home
No good reason for them to roam
Merciful one come take this chip off my shoulder

Give me shelter from the storm
some curse the day they were actually born
To never relent to give up the fight
hearts there bleeding in the night

There are perilous times
We have settled for ill faded rhymes
Let us bask in the vast array of love
Nestled in the fragrance from above
