Proud to be irish

(For A Friend)

I am an Ulster born non-Catholic
And my allegiance is to the land of
My birth encircled by the lovely
And at times rough Irish sea.

Oh! I’m fully aware of my families
Roots within a nearby land but here
Is where I was born and I’m very
Proud of our shamrock land.

As a fisherman I love the Shannon,
The river Foyle and Lough Neagh- all
Impregnated with natures beauty and of
Course the peacefulness of Shanreagh.

I love our native culture and our gaelic
Games although I regret not having
Learnt the language of the Gael which
Has evolved throughout the aeons.

So, let us be what God has ordained
Prior to His act of creation and be proud
Of the land were we were born and in
My case I am of the Irish nation.
