Nostos Odysseus verse 1

I sing you Truth, Horkos Everlasting
Lord God Zeus
It happened when I was still a Youth,
Prince Telemakhos
My Lord & Father leading our Akhaian Fleet
against windswept Wilios
To recover King Menelaos' Queen Helen,
Daughter of Lord Zeus
In War greater than any our World had
known
(Waged to bring Gold Fleece home)
Immortal Gods & Bronzeclad Warriors vied
While mighty Heroes killed, consumed by
Pride
Until my Father made King Priamos'
high Trioa fall
Beneath hollow Gift which stood so tall
His great Hippos built of silverfir Wood
Ground Troia's Bones beneath planted
Hooves
