Le vieux pêcheur

Au fil de l'eau coulant sans bruit,
Triste et beau comme un vieux monarque,
Perche en main, débout dans sa barque,
Le pêcheur aspirait la nuit.

Son extase mal contenue
Rivait, pleins de larmes, ses yeux
Au grand miroir mystérieux
tremblait l'ombre de la nue.

L'astre pur, à frissons follets,
Jetait prodigue ses reflets
A cette transparence brune ;

J'entendis l'homme chuchoter :
' C'te nuit ! fait-i' bon d'exister !
Pour voir l'eau s'ens'mencer d'la lune. '
