Ma chatte avait peur de cet énorme rat
Qui toutes les nuits dévalisait l’armoire,
Rongeait aussi bien le bois que le grimoire
Et fourrait partout son museau scélérat.

Lourd, il trottinait, fouilleur comme un verrat.
Tout y passait : fil, toile, velours et moire !
Ma chatte avait peur de cet énorme rat
Qui toutes les nuits dévalisait l’armoire.

Il mangeait le cuir, le liège, et cætera,
Renversait les pots et traînait l’écumoire ;
Et même une nuit, si j’ai bonne mémoire,
Je sentis sa queue ignoble sous mon drap.
Ma chatte avait peur de cet énorme rat.
