Entre les fils du télégraphe
Un pierrot siffle son refrain.
Le soir tombe : le ciel serein
Est vitreux comme une carafe.

Nul éclair ne met son paraphe
Au fond de l’horizon chagrin.
Entre les fils du télégraphe

Comme il sautille ! Comme il piaffe !
Mais comme il file avec entrain,
Dès que la machine du train
Montre son grand cou de girafe
