La forêt songe, bleue et pâle,
Dans un féerique demi-jour.
Tout s'y voit spectral, d'aspect sourd,
Par cette nuit d'ambre et d'opale.

Là, c'est un cerf blessé qui râle...
Ici, d'autres, pâmés d'amour...
La forêt songe, bleue et pâle,
Dans un féerique demi-jour.

Ailleurs, une laie et son mâle
Et leurs marcassins tout autour !...
Et, tandis qu'un frais zéphyr court,
Venant la reposer du hâle,
La forêt songe, bleue et pâle.
