La Créole

Maurice Rollinat 1846 (Châteauroux) – 1903 (Ivry-sur-Seine)

Voici l’heure décolorée :
La créole a quitté l’ombrelle
Et bâille dans son hamac frêle
Au bruit de la vague éplorée.

Les chatoiments du clair de lune
Vont et viennent sur sa peau brune :

Cependant que sur l’âpre dune
Les algues soufflent leur parfum.
Plus d’un boa cherchant fortune
Dans la forêt se traîne à jeun,

Et les colibris, un par un,
S’effacent dans le jour défunt.

Gracieux fantôme indistinct,
Elle dort d’un sommeil profond,
Et la couleur de l’air se fond
Avec la couleur de son teint.
