La Chanson des amoureuses

Nos soupirs s’en vont dans la tombe
Comme des souffles dans la nuit,
Et nos plaintes sont un vain bruit
Comme celles de la colombe.

Tout prend son vol et tout retombe,
Tout s’enracine et tout s’enfuit !
Nos soupirs s’en vont dans la tombe
Comme des souffles dans la nuit.

C’est toujours la mort qui surplombe
Le nouvel amour qui séduit,
Et pas à pas, elle nous suit
Dans la volupté qui nous plombe.
Nos soupirs s’en vont dans la tombe.
