Voyant l'ambition, l'envie, et l'avarice,
La rancune, l'orgueil, le désir aveuglé,
Dont cet âge de fer de vices tout rouillé
A violé l'honneur de l'antique justice :

Voyant d'une autre part la fraude, la malice,
Le procès immortel, le droit mal conseillé :
Et voyant au milieu du vice déréglé
Cette royale fleur, qui ne tient rien du vice :

Il me semble, Dorat, voir au ciel revolés
Des antiques vertus les escadrons ailés,
N'ayant rien délaissé de leur saison dorée

Pour réduire le monde à son premier printemps,
Fors cette Marguerite, honneur de notre temps,
Qui, comme l'espérance, est seule demeurée.
