Si la vertu, qui est de nature immortelle,
Comme immortelles sont les semences des cieux,
Ainsi qu'à nos esprits, se montrait à nos yeux,
Et nos sens hébétés étaient capables d'elle,

Non ceux-là seulement qui l'imaginent telle,
Et ceux auxquels le vice est un monstre odieux,
Mais on verrait encor les mêmes vicieux
Epris de sa beauté, des beautés la plus belle.

Si tant aimable donc serait cette vertu
A qui la pourrait voir, Vineus, t'ébahis-tu
Si j'ai de ma princesse au coeur l'image empreinte ?

Si sa vertu j'adore, et si d'affection
Je parle si souvent de sa perfection,
Vu que la vertu même en son visage est peinte
