Please forget me slowly
Like a rusting iron
Or an eroding ground

Please forget me slowly
Like opening a delicately wrapped gift
Only to find something you don't like

Please forget me slowly
Like a dream you're desperately trying to remember
But all you remember is a feeling that soon fades

Please forget me slowly
Like a song you once liked
But its music no longer appeals to your heart

Please forget me slowly
As my memories grow dim
Like an overused bulb
Smile as you see me mixed in smoke
