Poetry Is A Need
Poetry Is A Need
I am a lonely voice in plain sight
Shouting against the wind,
Sometimes crying in the breeze
I didn’t choose Poetry
Poetry chose me
In a modern world
Poetry is a luxury
For those with too much time
It is, sadly, very needed
Now more than ever.
Truth is a designer message
Fitted by fools
Looking to control others
The world has lost its way
Love is a punchline
Instead of practice
I don’t see the world as
The way I want it to be
I see it the way it is
And it makes me weep.
Seeing the moon at night
Gives me hope
Joy comes in the morning
Not just because
Earth spins around
It’s because
Light and life keep shining
Even in our darkest moments.
The pen of a poet is a lonely thing
A solitary expression
Looking for relevance,
Legitimacy insecure
You don’t make money
From words alone
You still have to use your hands
Love takes two hands
And two feet to get
Where love and poetry are in need.
Poetry is a necessity
In a hungry world of souls
Starving for expression,
For meaning and value
Rhymes and verse
Satiate an invisible space
In denial or neglected
Poetry isn’t a mental move
Rather an exercise of emotion,
You don’t analyze an art
Poetry is a need of the heart.
