Upon A Hill

An Angel came to Earth
My world was all hers
‘Til I threw it away

You left us way too soon
Now just what are we to do?
There’s no escape

You went up to the hill alone
Nobody knew what life put you through
You’ll be here in our hearts forever
Somehow we go on without you

Your spirit will live forevermore
Through the Elements, the Clues, the Colors too
This world misunderstood your warm aura
And this monster from a world unknown to you

Still our world was a better place
You taught me more than I had ever known
Like the sunrise embracing a summer rain
Where you are now must be incredible

You went up to the hill alone
Nobody knew what life put you through
You’ll be here in our hearts for forever
Somehow we go on without you

You’re with those you missed before
Now it is us who miss you forever more

You went up to the hill alone
Nobody knew what life put you through
You’ll be here in my heart for forever
Somehow I will go on without you

It’s not too late until it’s too late

I don’t know what I am to do
As our butterfly

Flies away.

The refrain "You went up to the hill alone / Nobody knew what life put you through / You’ll be here in our hearts forever / Somehow we go on without you" effectively reinforces the poem's central themes of loneliness, remembrance, and the struggle to cope with loss. The image of the "hill" symbolizes a place of solitude and finality.
