A Void to Fill

In the quiet corners of our shared refrain,
Where laughter once danced, now echoes of pain,
A void has settled, a chasm so wide,
Between you and me, where love used to bide.

I reach for your hand, but it slips through my grasp,
Like shadows at dusk, they fade, and they clasp,
The memories linger, like ghosts in the night,
Yet the space between us grows deeper, more tight.

I trace the outlines of what we once knew,
The warmth of your smile, the light in your view,
But the more that I struggle, the more I can see,
This distance, this silence, it’s swallowing me.

I whisper your name to the stars in the sky,
Hoping they’ll carry my words, let them fly,
But the void just expands, a relentless abyss,
Each attempt to bridge it feels like a miss.

I gather my courage, I summon my heart,
To speak of the feelings that tear me apart,
But the words fall like raindrops on parched, barren ground,
And the echoes of longing are all that I’ve found.

I ponder the moments, the laughter, the tears,
The dreams that we wove through the fabric of years,
Yet here in this silence, I’m lost in the fray,
As the space between us grows wider each day.

I try to remember the warmth of your gaze,
The way that you’d light up the darkest of days,
But the shadows are creeping, they twist and they twine,
And the void that surrounds us feels almost divine.

What is it that happened? Where did we go wrong?
Was it silence that built this unyielding song?
Or the words that we swallowed, the truths left unsaid,
That turn's love into echoes, or your joy into dread?

I reach for the memories, I sift through the past,
Hoping to find a connection that lasts,
But the more that I grasp, the more I can feel,
This void is a monster, it’s hungry, it’s real.

I long for the moments when we were entwined,
When the space between us was tender, aligned,
But now it’s a canyon, a rift carved by doubt,
And I’m struggling to find a way to break out.

I write you these verses, I pour out my soul,
In hopes that the words might somehow console,
But the ink on the paper can’t bridge what’s been lost,
And I’m left with this void, with its unyielding cosçt.

So here I am standing, on the edge of despair,
With a heart full of longing, and a breath of fresh air,
I’ll keep reaching for you, though the distance is vast,
In the hope that one day, we can mend what’s been cast.

For love is a journey, a winding, steep hill,
And though the void grows, I’m determined to fill,
With patience and kindness, with hope as my guide,
I’ll traverse this expanse, with you by my side.

So let’s take a moment, let’s breathe in the space,
And find in the silence a new kind of grace,
For though the void lingers, it’s not the end’s call,
Together we’ll rise, and we’ll conquer it all.

About this poem

I'm sorry for the void I cause and the venom I spew . For Pain into anger is all I knew .... wasn't supposed to be this way for that you already knew. All I know is I'm very lost without you...
