Uncertaintiy

She who is trying to reclaim back her power, something that withered long ago

Bubbly as Moscato, sweet as a nectarine, and had a kick like red curry

Somewhere along the way along with her ancestors that version of her was buried

Like grasping for straws, she would reach for something for an instant feeling of something euphoric

Her serotonin boosted but at what cost did she pay for it?

The palace that she once called home was starting to crumble

While trying to grab the rubble that lies before her piece by piece

She didn’t realize that the weight she was carrying would affect her peace

Holding onto everything to place it back to where it originally was

Hoping for a miracle only hindered her growth

Even though she was petrified of uncertainty and which way the outcome would go

She took a deep breath with tears in her eyes, and fear in her gut and finally let go

About this poem

Letting go of what used to be and preparing for what is ahead.

It takes courage to summon blind faith, without knowing the outcome, and the ego can be a fragile thing. That's a precarious position I've been in several times in life.

I take this as a confessional poem that describes many of us who often procrastinate.
