Hiding Clown

It’s tough being the clown that everyone depends on
Always waiting for that one line
Make you laugh, make you think
A voice of reason

When the night comes, the clown makeup comes off
The masquerade of senseless abandon
Fireworks fade away into the night
The clown cries alone

With the will power to hold back rivers
It gets easier each day with practice
Still the passion burns deep inside me
My will is no more

Broken vows making me crazier each time I see you
The perfect couple at an imperfect time
Faking smiles all the time
A breaking heart inside

My heart must remain silent from all to hear
A sleeve full of quiet emotions
I let my mask do the talking
My one-way mirror

The beautiful, the lucky, and the well people
Are hidden from the rest of us
Are the signs visible?
Must protect all from the clown
