Phoenix Mode

I was there during Her death,
Sat in silence, watching as She took Her last breath.
Knew then that the moment had come and gone,
Life’s tune no longer played, Her song withdrawn.

Ashes to ashes,
Dust to dust,
Yet from the dark, a fire ignites,
A spark of life, a raging light.

From the flame, Her spirit flees
Her wings spread wide, with fiery grace,
A blaze that lights the darkest space.

I am Her, and She is I,
Reborn beneath an endless sky.
Inside a soldier, solid, fierce,
Renewed in fire, youth reappears.

Reset to live, to rise once more,
A soul set free, a heart that soars.

About this poem

A revision of micropoetry previously published. I never sit down and write a poem in one sitting. The words come to me in chunks, sometimes over a period of years. This one has been a long time in the making.
