A northwestern zephyr

Chill wind song collides with the
border on our little slice of heaven.
Torn trees trace the echoes that once
blew from the west.
Simple hearts opened at the sign,
triple entendres donated from our brothers.
A family, was once called.
A warmth felt only at the seams.

I remember the calling of her wind
as it overtook me as if the cold blanket
was my own, that too caught me off guard
as I left without thinking of her.
so there remained the talks,
the whispers and the kisses,
the hugs and the hellos given by surprise.
Perhaps you'll look back in anticipation
but if I am not there would your smile return half present? Would you close your eyes for a split second? Would the lingering air feel 20 stone? Meat falling at the bone for dogs absent?
There is a cold wind, yes there is a cold wind.
And I cry,
and the laugh tracks played in reverse
play with my ears,
and I whisper, and I make the effort once again
for efforts made in the warmth of summer
are immortalized.
