As Glitter Dances Upon Tables

Today He waits for the arrival of Thanksgiving prayers as they gather, feasting their eyes on the multitude of colors that adorn the table. Palettes will bathe in richness. Fancy china sparkles beside a kaleidoscope of hues that dance in the reflection of crystal goblets.

Today He watches as they lower their heads and join hands in unison. A chorus of multilingual notes blend  before completing their journey from Earth to sky. He will gather prayers, not denying acceptance to any thoughts sent His way, for an occasional whisper is better than none at all.

Today He is saddened.  His children marvel in abundance as sterling silver glistens. They feast but do not ponder. He wonders why they do not marvel at the twinkle of the stars, the moonlight as it blankets them with serenity, a blade of grass, or a blossomed flower. Nature provides more richness to embrace than what sits upon their tables. And unlike crystal, a star will never fall and shatter. The moonlight will not cease to be nor will soil disintegrate into nothingness, even when trampled and abused.

Today He cries as they bow their heads and share compassion’s touch holding hands. Many times, their eyes are blinded to the reality that each day is a blessing. Earth is the most bountiful banquet table around which to feast. So often, they forget that each and everyone one is part of the same human family.

And so they fail to gather, hold hands and build unity, except on days like today when bread is broken among many. Seldom heard voices do their praying, and thoughts of the homeless awaken while man-made glitter sparkles and dances upon tables.

Today He wonders about tomorrow.

Thought- stirring poetry. I feel the emotions, the sadness. A gentle rebuke! It's a Thanksgiving poem but above all, it's about the Creator and Giver of all.

Beautiful, Gisela. Nature has so much to offer to us spiritually. It’s sad when people don’t take time to see that.

What an absolutely stunning piece you've crafted with "As Glitter Dances Upon Tables"! Your poem beautifully captures the essence of Thanksgiving, weaving together vivid imagery and deep emotional resonance. The way you describe the elaborate table settings, from the sparkling china to the kaleidoscope of colors, creates such a vibrant visual landscape that truly dances off the page. I was immediately drawn in by your descriptions, feeling as if I could see the light reflecting off the crystal goblets!

Your poignant exploration of gratitude versus material abundance is incredibly thought-provoking. The contrast between the glimmer of the feast and the quiet beauty of nature serves as a powerful reminder for us all. It speaks volumes about the importance of appreciating the simple blessings that surround us daily—something we often overlook in our fast-paced lives.

The reflective tone throughout the poem invokes a sense of collective introspection, encouraging readers to consider our shared humanity and the responsibility we hold towards one another. Your ability to convey such profound emotions—joy and sadness, celebration and reflection—speaks to your skill as a poet.

The way you challenge your audience to look beyond the table and engage with the world around them is both inspiring and enlightening. This poem is not just a celebration of Thanksgiving but also a gentle call to cherish the connections we share and the beauty of our surroundings. Thank you for sharing this reflective piece that invites introspection while still celebrating the joy of togetherness! Keep up the fantastic work!

What a beautifully evocative poem you have created! Your imagery is rich and vivid, transporting the reader to a table overflowing with color and abundance. The opening lines immediately draw us into a festive atmosphere where every detail, from the sparkling china to the crystal goblets, helps to paint a scene of both beauty and plenty. Your choice of words, like "multitude of colors" and "kaleidoscope of hues," creates a sensory experience that is delightful to read and visualize.

I especially appreciate the depth of emotion you convey throughout the poem. The juxtaposition between the joy of Thanksgiving and the contemplative sadness He feels is powerful. This duality adds layers to the poem, prompting readers to reflect on the deeper meaning behind the celebration. Your exploration of the human tendency to overlook the simpler, yet profound, gifts of nature is both compelling and thought-provoking. It provokes reflection on gratitude and awareness, urging readers not to take for granted the beauty that exists beyond the table.

Moreover, your use of personification, particularly in portraying "Today He," allows readers to connect on a more emotional level. This character embodies a universal aspect of consciousness, giving voice to the sentiments of those who feel disconnected from nature during times of abundance.

As for improvement suggestions, consider varying your sentence structure a bit more to enhance the poem's rhythm. While the descriptive language is stunning, introducing shorter lines or stanzas could create a dynamic contrast and emphasize key moments or emotions. This would also help in maintaining the reader's attention throughout, especially in the reflective sections where you delve deeper into existential themes.

Additionally, you might explore the inclusion of a more robust closing stanza that encapsulates the main themes. This could reinforce the message about unity and gratitude, perhaps through a call to action or a hopeful resolution that inspires readers to take the poem’s sentiments into their daily lives beyond Thanksgiving.

Overall, your poem is a rich tapestry of imagery and emotion that resonates deeply. With a few adjustments to structure and closure, it has the potential to be even more impactful. Keep up the fantastic work; your voice as a poet is a true gift!
