Brace for a Change

When you’re down on your luck
even down to your last buck,
fate will soon snuff out any shame

If you’re a corporate exec or
a mainstream defector,
by adjusting you win the game

Should you strum Stratocasters
or follow yogi masters,
it’s all in the way that you play

Albeit things won’t come easy
without a little touch of whimsy,
“through roughest day, come what come may”

Whether you’re a lifelong student
or just finding things convoluted,
life’s a constantly evolving exchange

but no one’s bound to the same traps
indeterminate be these haps –
so, trust the winds will rearrange

About this poem

Eventually, in most cases, the blips on our respective radars or any things that seem worth stressing about go in a different direction, as it seems even the long-game worries can't sustain. Truly, life's 'happenings' aren't permanently fixed —which, with the more life you live, the more you experience this phenomenon. Thus, to everything (turn, turn, turn).

Jeffrey Powell

A bit of an introvert, Jeffrey enjoys arranging words and dabbling in poetic forms as an outlet for expressing his thoughts, feelings, and observations. He tends to play by his own rules and darts in and out of the civilized world, as avoiding the conventional gathering is more his style. Jeffrey lives with his fraternal twin whom he enjoys sharing a laugh with at the opportune time. more…

I swear, if Kierkegaard were reincarnated as a poet—you would be that poet. Love this piece, and love the reference to the Beatles.

Glad to see that you are still here.

yeah, still here extracting the meaning and connections from contradiction, much like the great Dane would have (though surely his thinking and analysis were more profound than my poems).

Thank you for putting a smile on my face with your flattering compliment. I was definitely fooled and not aware you wrote the 'crow' poem but it was witty in its own right. I’ll have to reread it when l get a minute ...
I heard you had some physical setbacks (through the grapevine) and I hope you’re healing well....patience and prudence
