Call Me Medusa

In the world, where the evil looms
A beautiful girl, was born into chains and tombs,
Named once, by the people who sold and used her,
She has a new name now
Call me medusa.

Her heart, once a delicate mission,
Sparks drowned before ignition,
A father's love, Nowhere to be seen, absent, left scars that you'd be lucky to see,
Innocence shattered, dreams turned to a sheen,
Lifting the veil, now you'll be seen.

Throughout her years, naive filled with tears, consent never existed, because of the fears

Beige sheets turned to burgundy,
She wept softly, "will this last for an eternity?"
Her body aches, a symphony of pain,
Her soul cries out, in a silent refrain.
Bruises bloom like flowers, dark and deep, Each one a tale, of promises no one could keep.

Slowly we learn to find, beauty in the thorns,
No-one told me, the devil doesn't come with horns.

In the mirrors gaze, she sees the scars,
A map outlining her journey, beneath the stars.
Each marks, a story, of struggle and strife,
A testament to her indomitable life.

A Few times more and her innoncence was taken
Bedsheets left stained and now her mind is left shaken

Each stain, a wound, a dark mark on her soul,
A labyrinth of pain, where no light could console.
Her heart turns to stone, nothing left to give, this is it...
She sees beauty in the snow, alright, just one hit.

Who needs someone to let you down
When you are the master of your own failures
Every hit to replace the touch
Of one of your forsaken saviours
Now You're encased, theres no more sound, the devil is gone, didn't you see him drown?

Yet amidst the darkness, a wildflower grows
A King with a heart, sincere yet closed
He saw her scars,
he's heard things no one knows

He saw her for what she is, not as flaws, but art,
A testament to her beauty, her strength, her resilient heart

But she, Medusa, reduced to stone,
Felt unworthy of her Kings throne
In the darkness, an endless chase
so close but always so far away

"She's too broken" the serpents hissed, After that, fate sealed their very first kiss.
The serpents continued with their clause
"you see beauty, where she sees flaws".

In the depths of her heart, Medusa weeps,
For the twin flame she wishes to keep.
Yet insecurity whispers its cruel lie,
Telling her to push him away, to say goodbye.

Her trust, once shattered, now fragile and thin,
A fortress of doubt, she’s trapped within.
Her biggest fear, a shadow so vast,
That no one will love her, for the scars of her past.

In the mirror of her soul, Medusa sees,
A reflection marred by countless pleas.
No man, she thinks, will ever understand,
The pain inflicted by so many hands.

Non-consensual touches, a history of woe,
Her heart burdened by the scars they bestow.
Ashamed of the past, of the men who took,
She fears her love will see only what’s forsook.

She dreads he’ll view her bruises with disdain,
Not as flowers, but as marks of shame.
Afraid he’ll see her as a body count, not a soul,
Medusa pushes away, fearing she’ll never be whole.,

Yet, deep within, she yearns for his embrace,
A love she’s sought throughout time and space.
He’s the one she’s been seeking for so long,
A melody in her heart, hes her soothing song.

The way he makes her feel, like a lightning storm,
On a lukewarm night, where the beach transforms.
Exciting and beautiful, with waves that soothe, your words entice me, like a well written haiku.

In his presence, her fears begin to fade,
A love so profound, she’s no longer afraid.
Medusa desires him, her heart’s true plea,
Hoping he’ll see her, and set her free.

So for now, Medusa will sleep at night, Waiting for him, To turn these burgundy sheets white.

Sheltered Minds

Hello everyone! I'm Grace - Sheltered Minds a proud mother of two amazing kids. At 27, I've been on a journey that has shaped who I am today. Growing up in a household where domestic violence was a norm, I faced many challenges early on, including experiencing sexual abuse that continued into my adulthood. These experiences have been incredibly difficult, but they've also fueled my passion for writing. My dream is to become a poet and writer, using my words to spread awareness about domestic violence and the importance of healing. I believe that sharing my stories and insights can make a difference and potentially save a life. Through my poetry, I hope to connect with others who have faced similar struggles and inspire them to find their voice. Thank you for being part of my journey. Together, we can create a community of support and understanding. more…

Surviving the complexity of pain, healing from the abomination of feeling violated, is a battle fought by both mind and body. One wouldn't want to exchange their being for the calloused insensitivity tainted by the remorse of feeling such a way. Something lost and irretrievable, it cannot be compensated for because it won't return, abandoned somewhere in memory. Everything will require time to find a new meaning for writing poetry.

I give you my vote and my blessing. Yours is a poem that reveals your inner strength. May your healing message lift up others up who have been wounded in their journey of life, that they too can find strength, faith, hope and yes, that love that can truly heal.

You have a good sense of rhyme. I found it a bit wordy and repetitive though it scanned easily.

This part of the poem "The way he makes her feel, like a lightning storm,
On a lukewarm night, where the beach transforms.
Exciting and beautiful, with waves that soothe, your wordsentice me, like a well writtenhaiku" makes it sound more beautiful.
