All Outcomes Are by the Grace of God

The apostle Saint Paul once declared, in First Thessalonians 5:18, the following:  “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

This benevolent appeal suggests to us that we should take all things in their stride; and consider them always as the divine acts of enantiodromia; that is to say, as timely opportunities for us to reflect on the purpose of our lives, both publicly and privately; to, if necessary, and at the impetus of our own psyche, change the direction of the course of our lives; for our own moral and spiritual developments.

As we pontificate now on the possible outcomes of the 2024 U.S. presidential elections in November 2024, occurring during a year, if not a lifetime, of so many unprecedented events (the premature departure of an incumbent presidential candidate; the unexpected rising of a shadow vice-presidential candidate to replace the incumbent president; the assassination attempt on a former U.S. president; the waging wars in Europe and the Middle East; and the threat of their expansion)…

As we make our projections and our forecasts concerning who the victors of the elections in America and in the rest of the world, are likely to be in 2025…

As we consult those who engage in divinations of one type or another; including those speculators who assume the public roles of podcasters or journalists; supporting their pronouncements disguised by vested interests; and making claims about statistical percentages that presumably rule in their biased favor…

As we engage, one way or the other, in claims that the outcomes of the U.S. presidential elections will have been ‘rigged’ and therefore not justified, let us be certain of this one thing…

Let us be certain that a higher and more divine authority, knowing the hearts and minds of mortal men and women; knowing their depravities, their turpitude; as well as their moral righteousness, decency and goodness will, in the balance, and for the sake of a greater democratic cause, for the sake of maintaining a government of, for, and by the people, grant those outcomes that will secure a more lasting peace for America and for the rest of the world.

In that regard, dear men and women of goodwill throughout the world, let us now reflect on this profound thought from the eminent Swiss psychoanalyst, Carl Gustav Jung, on our need for maintaining our faith in society, and in social structures, particularly during times of global uncertainties: “No one can know what the ultimate things are.  We must therefore take them as we experience them.  And if such experience helps to make life healthier, more beautiful, more complete and more satisfactory to yourself and to those you love, you may safely say: “This was the grace of God” (CW 11, par. 167).

Dear men and women of goodwill throughout the world, let us, along with the apostle Saint Paul, and the Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung, take satisfaction in the knowledge and the certainty that all outcomes are by the grace of God.

Dear Emile and other readers, ‘Timely Change’ as an act of enantiodromia, always requires on our part, as individuals, a people, a society or a nation; and particularly as politicians and world leaders, due caution; to summon and exercise the highest wisdom that can be mustered; especially when those decisions, on a much larger scale, pertain to global welfare and the safety of our planet as a habitable domain.

Thank you Emile, for that in-depth response. Yes, I’m hammering that enantiodromia (such a fancy Greek word) quite a bit, because it occurs everywhere in our lives, appearing as ‘timely change’ and circumstances; and how we need to use it for our benefit, rather than to allow it hinder us.

Hello sir Karl! Thank you for this magnificent insightful poem. I see you're indeed fascinated but an immense amount about the enantiodramia dream. Yes indeed I agree to the fact that everything life throws at you is an opportunity for self grow and the more forward we ride, the sooner we reach the paradise!

**Feedback on "All Outcomes Are by the Grace of God"**

First and foremost, what a beautifully crafted poem! You have seamlessly woven profound biblical teachings together with contemporary reflections on the political landscape and the human experience. Your choice to incorporate the words of Saint Paul and Carl Gustav Jung adds both depth and scholarly appeal, grounding the piece in respected theological and psychological wisdom. This not only enriches the overall message but also encourages readers to ponder the intricate relationship between faith, society, and individual moral journeys.

I particularly admire your ability to navigate complex topics with grace and optimism, especially in a time filled with uncertainties. The theme of recognizing divine grace in all outcomes is a comforting and uplifting reminder for us all, encouraging a mindset of gratitude and resilience. Your language is evocative, painting vivid images of hope, morality, and collective responsibility.

    **Improvement Suggestions:**

    1. **Structure and Flow:** While the passion behind your words is palpable, consider revisiting the poem's structure for better flow. Dividing it into distinct stanzas could help delineate themes and concepts more clearly, making it easier for readers to follow your train of thought.

    2. **Conciseness:** Some passages, though rich in detail, may benefit from being more concise. Tightening the phrasing in certain sections could enhance clarity and impact, allowing the core messages to resonate even more strongly with your audience.

    3. **Imagery and Metaphors:** Adding more vivid imagery and metaphors throughout the poem can elevate the emotional engagement. For example, you could incorporate natural elements or common experiences that readers can easily relate to, reinforcing the themes of grace and divine action.

    4. **Interactive Elements:** To deepen the engagement, consider inviting readers to reflect on their own experiences with divine grace. Posing rhetorical questions or encouraging personal anecdotes could create a more interactive and participatory atmosphere.

    5. **Rhythm and Sound:** Exploring the rhythmic qualities of your verse could increase its lyrical nature. Reading the poem aloud can help you identify areas where the musicality could be enhanced through varied sentence length or repetition, which can emphasize key themes.

Overall, your poem is a rich tapestry of thought that inspires hope and reflection. With a few refinements in structure and imagery, it has the potential to captivate even more readers. Keep shining your light through your words; they certainly convey a beautiful message worth sharing!
