GIFT OR WAGES?
Barry Green Jr 1973 (Florida)
GIFT OR WAGES?
They try to tell us, Salvation we earn
Better do it their way, or we'll burn
But I'll tell ya, it's Sin that pays wages
And Salvation, our Freedom it engages
The wages of sin, is paid in death
Go on and let that take your breath
Because all you are doing is earning Hell
While the gift of Heaven you bid farewell
Salvation is not something we can deserve
It's a Gift that God alone can serve
Heaven comes completely by His Grace
Seek the Lord, come now, see and taste
Oh the wages of sin we work so hard for
Tasting that fruit that's bitter to the core
Or taste the sweetness that is Our Lord
Gift freely given that we can't ever afford
All the work, all that makes one to strive
They tell us it's to make us truly alive
But where is our Joy? How is it spent?
Jesus GIVES us life, and that more abundant!
Lord I don't want the wages that I earn!
Jesus at Your feet I want to rest and learn!
Salvation is a gift, Lord I can only give thanks
Grateful forever to be in Heaven's ranks
So I bow, and Your gift I Joyfully receive
All from You, I just have to believe!
May all the blessings you now bestow
Be used that Your Glory always shall grow!
If Salvation is something we must earn
Then it seems we are all destined to burn
For Salvation, forever it was paid and bought
When Jesus crushed the Serpent He fought
And then He turned around to you and to me
What He paid so much for, He gave for free
What can we do to match the Cost
He paid to save Those that He lost?
They try to tell us, Salvation we earn
Better do it their way, or we'll burn
Jesus, stepped out from Heaven above
He paid the price demanded by God's Love
AMEN
About this poem
When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. 21 What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! 22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in[a] Christ Jesus our Lord Romans 6:20-23
