The Hospice Care Angel

By flesh of spirit came you through the fire,
A savior-be to the many you’ve blessed,
Embracing their sadness to lift them higher
As they’ve lain in wait to be caressed.

You have tasked yourself to every need,
For it is you who would carry them back,
Sown to many through a gift of your seed
To plant a harvest for those lain in lack.

You've offered yourself over to sacrifice,
A giver to every demand reached out,
You, the bridge, between death and fear
Brought them hope for those lain in doubt.

A world had clung them unto their needs
When life was all but an ill-gotten fight,
You lit the way through their darkest hour,
Soothing death’s fear to calm its fright.

You were the patron of both light and love
An angel prone to all who had wept,
A loving hand for those who were dying,
A beacon of hope for those to be slept.

This is my tribute to Susan. She is a remarkable human being well deserving of every word. As always, Randy, you are a 5-star supporter. Thank you, Sir.

Your beautiful poem put tears in my eyes, and a smile in my heart. She’s blessed to be a friend of yours.

Yes, she is blessed to be my friend because she gets to see her own handiwork through me. I am merely an expression of you, Susan. These words are simply descriptive in nature, so any emotion you feel comes as a result of your own life. It is I who am blessed, my friend.

What an angel this is. And no! I do not know who this is., Woman or man. Should I know his or her name? What are the clues that reveal without doubts his or her identity? All the poem tells me is that it is an angel and his or her deeds. It is a good poem nevertheless and a good read.

She sets above you here in the comment section. Her name is Susan Brumel. Susan and I have become fast friends. We've learned as much about each other as we've readily divulged. She is an amazing woman to say the least and equal to the task as a poet. I am honored to call her my friend. Thank you for your kind words. Respect to you and much gratitude.

Beautiful poem. Caring for the terminally ill isn’t easy. I lost a loved one recently that was in hospice.

Thank you very much for the kind words. It's easy to write something of this nature when you are friends with a woman of Susan Brumel's ilk. She is deserving of the accolade for sure.
