A poet's Vertue

"A poet's Elusive star"
In twilight's hush, where dreams softly weave,
A poet writes of a love he can't conceive.
His verses dance on a fragile line,
For he loves a star that will never align.
Her grace, a galaxy he'd never reach,
Her laughter, a song just beyond his speech.
He pens her beauty in metaphors grand,
Yet knows he holds only grains of sand.
Her eyes, constellations he cannot grasp,
Her touch, a mystery he cannot clasp.
In every sonnet, her name takes flight,
An echo of longing in the dead of night.
He dreams of her smile like dawn's first light,
A beacon so distant, it fades from sight.
Though he offers his heart on a silvered page,
It is but a whisper in love’s grand stage.
She is the muse of his sweetest plight,
A star in the heavens, a fleeting light.
Yet in his heart, where dreams intertwine,
He loves her wholly, though she’s not mine.
For in his verses, she forever resides,
A love out of reach but where beauty abides.
In the realm of the impossible, his love will stay,
A poet’s heart chasing what words cannot say.
