Orchards

I wish not to seal off this door
that leads to orchards grown before;
for although barren now they lay,
my mind has fed from their lore.
The Moon has leered during the day,
as I reveled with naught to say;
while sated by juice of each fruit,
dangling above this pious way.
Much mirth and a garland, my crown,
the live tambours are heard through town,
also from a long thyrsus, sweet
honey falls as the fir did down.
It has been said by the discreet,
with tall spikes as a royal seat,
for twenty seconds, one could meet
their own main stem supine like wheat.
