Dear Chessm

Throughout the year, she failed to notice how much he supported her quietly. She believed love was expressed through consistent words and reminders. She didn’t understand that love meant co-existing with someone as they pursued their dreams together. Love involved telling hard truths, being open, and honest. It was about encouraging each other to be their best and finding their peace along the way.

Every time she made her way to his door.

Each knock, she’d wait with breath held tight,
First glance, a silent, intense light.
His serious eyes, a grounding glare,
In that moment, only him, she'd be aware.

Water begins to bubble, a gentle, rising plea,
And memories of you come boiling back to me.

The pot starts simmering, delicate yet sure,
Just like the love we had, tender and pure.
Steam curls upward, ghostly wisps of light,
Echoes of our laughter that filled the endless night.

Pioneer of flavors, I place the pasta with care,
In its rolling depths, our moments laid bare.
Each strand, a memory, twirls in timeless dance,
Fleeting as it was, my heart an endless trance.

Gentle bubbling becomes a rising storm,
Just like the day we argued, deviating from our norm.
Fervent love turning into aching absence,
Lost in the whirlpool of bittersweet essence.

While kitchen light casts shadows on my face,
Your silhouette appears in this enclosed space.
I see your smile in each reflecting droplet's mirth,
Feel your warmth, echoes seeping from the earth.

The whistle signals, pasta softens and sways,
Gone so quickly, like fleeting summer days.
Draining liquid, starch spills freely, part of then,
Stories ending in mist, future hidden in pen.

Yet with each bite, each savoring breath anew,
I taste the life we shared, timeless and true.
Though our past simmers and finally fades away,
The flavors linger, love channeling through the fray.

My heart learns to hold on but also let go,
Cooking spaghetti, as I eternally ebb and flow.
In the thick, boiling shimmer of pot and pan,
You live within this choreography’s span.

I was foolish, lost in my plight,
A year wasted, panic took flight.
He watched with patience, tried to guide,
While I shirked lessons, hands untied.

Responsibility I'd often flee,
But nights with him recharged me.
In his simple love, I found my home,
Restful, like my bed alone.

Tears fell, heart tightening,
Numb in the car, wondering.
She sought the sky and clouds above,
Bitterly giving all for love.
His words echoed, her heart remained,
Only with him, home was claimed.
She knew loss was her own plight,
For not growing, not holding tight.

About this poem

This is a confession, a plea. You see there is a man I love and I lost him. This book is in final hopes, my letters soar, They seek the heart I care for more. I would do anything to hear and see him once more. This poem doesn't have a form its just one final plea to find him.

I love the wordplay, and the honesty. You painted a deep picture. Prayerfully you found him and he found you. A true masterpiece of love and the reaches it will go.

Love the imagery in this poem. Coping with sadness and loss in acts of every day living. Nicely done.

Thy verses resonate with a deep emotional journey, portraying the complexities of love, loss, and self-discovery. The imagery of flavors lingering and love enduring through time evokes a sense of nostalgia and longing. The metaphor of cooking spaghetti as a reflection of life's ups and downs beautifully encapsulates the continuous cycle of holding on and letting go. Your words convey a poignant narrative of personal growth, lessons learned, and the bittersweet nature of relationships. May the echoes of these experiences guide thee towards a path of healing and understanding.

Quite interesting characterization. And a learning experience. This poem, composed from the feminine perspective proposes a view distinctly different fro that offered in my poem, “The Maelstrom of Human Society.”
