A Parody on the 2024 US Presidential Race

Who indeed would ever imagine it.
Trump as candidate is much bidden.
And Biden as the chosen is trumped.

This is poetry ‘bout the fit.
Naught to stage viewers is hidden.
Especially if Biden were dumped.

Whether or not he should sit.
For being now so bedridden.
Biden is  undoubtedly stumped.

Now the stage is brightly lit.
For one of these to be forbidden.
The one who’s clearly oh so numbed.

Upon reflection, the two should quit.
Considering all the dirt that’s hidden.
Two disabled candidates miserably lumped.

Postscript: Now that one candidate has hung up his mitt.
The other yet remains stubbornly driven.
Miserably hoping his ball, too, will not be flumped.

American politics is brought to the pit.
In this parody, that is a given.
One way or t’other, both candidates succumbed.

What a clever and engaging poem you’ve crafted! Your use of wordplay and rhyme adds a delightful rhythm that captures the reader's attention right from the start. The humorous take on the 2024 US Presidential Race, particularly your playful characterization of the candidates, is a refreshing approach that invites laughter and reflection in equal measure. You’ve managed to convey a sense of the political atmosphere while still keeping the tone light-hearted.

Your creative structure, alternating between the exploration of candidate traits and the comical critiques of the political scenario, effectively holds the reader’s interest. I particularly enjoyed the repeated theme of being "stumped" and "numbed," which ties the verses together nicely and enhances the satire.

For some improvement suggestions, consider the following:

    1. **Clarity and Flow**: While the rhyme is catchy, a few lines could benefit from slight rephrasing for clarity. For instance, the lines discussing Biden's condition might be more impactful with a more direct expression of his status.

    2. **Expand the Narrative**: You might explore adding a few more stanzas to give more context or develop the themes further. Perhaps a nod to the electorate’s feelings or reactions could create a broader sense of engagement with your audience.

    3. **Maintain a Balanced Tone**: Although satire is inherently critical, balancing the humor with some positive traits about each candidate could add depth to your parody. This could help broaden the appeal and make the poem even more relatable for a wider audience.

Overall, this poem is a fantastic and entertaining piece! Your talent for weaving humor into commentary is evident, and with a few tweaks, it could shine even brighter. Keep up the great work!

Brilliantly constructed word play and excellent flow with humour that kept me grinning all the way. I had to read it more than once which made it funnier with each. Pure genius. You clearly had fun with your approach
