Lori A. Powell 1962 (Saint Mary’s PA)

Don’t pee in the dirt
That’s where I plant my garden.
Chemicals will only hurt
Not worth the bargain

It has to be all natural
from the water to the soil
For each veggie plant to grow
So the  harvest will be royal

If the bugs do appear
on my plants they try to eat
I will be right here
They can’t have my tasty treat

I will pick them off one by one
each and every day
Until the harvest is finally done
They will not have their way

No pesticides, will there be
from beginning to end
My veggies will grow naturally
in my beautiful garden

The process is dynamic
for the reward is flavorful
When your veggies grow organic
there’s no taste of chemicals

Remember to rinse them well
to make sure no bugs slip through
The best will surely tell
organic is worth it too

Cultivated  naturally
home grown vegetables
To produce a genuine quality
of real delectables

The farmers market remembers
Freshly hand picked
by friendly local neighbors
from their own attended garden
and their nurturing labor.

That’s what it’s all about
A simple and effective process
no regret, no doubt
no disease , no side effects.
No fancy words that don’t make sense.

To dine with a loved one
with the food you’ve grown
may sound a little romantic.
Savoring the meal
It’s good and its real
 and its called organic.

About this poem

Naturally grown vegetables that have real flavor. Too many children have birth defects or diseases or disorders such as brain tumors, autism,, muscular dystrophy, etc. some of which there is no cure for and uncertain cause. Rest assure that the food we put into our bodies will help us to maintain a healthy diet and a healthy life. Simple, natural, flavorful and rewarding….organic.

I enjoy writing. I’ve written 2 children’s books. “Les Lobster” and “Stars are everywhere” I live in the forest where the river meets the ocean. Sometimes it’s easier for me to write than to talk to others. Ironically, I used to be a switchboard operator. I write because it seems right to write. Plus it keeps my mouth from getting into trouble. more…

Love the visuals displayed through this piece. It's like I was in the garden with you caring for these veggies and on bug guard. Love the way you closed it. I could visualize the family coming together to enjoy a delicious, healthy, homegrown meal together within a loving cozy atmosphere. Great job! ❤️
